Back to part 8 - Covered Staircase
Cut out a sign that you want to use on the building. Sand it thin, if you like. Then use a Prismacolor marker or colored pencil to touch up the edges so that no white shows
Apply white glue to the back of the sign. Make sure to cover the whole sign.
Glue the sign in place.
If you like, sand the paper sign. Be careful it is easy to break through.
Color the edges of the Curtis Bros. sign with a black pen or a colored pencil.
Apply a thorough coat of white glue on the back of the sign.
Glue the sign in place. Using a finger smooth the glue out to the edges and wipe up an excess glue.
Once the signs have dried, use a new, sharp #11 blade to cut along the scribed lines.
Let the signs completely dry before you start this step.
Cut out the number signs.
I used an 1/16" hole punch that I bought at Michaels to cut out my signs. A very handy tool for about $4.
Cut out the "OFFICE" and "PRIVATE" signs using a sharp blade.
I used a razor blade but a sharp hobby knife would work just as well.
Glue the signs in place using white glue.
Put a dot of glue where you want the sign. Then lift the sign in place with the end of a toothpick.
