Back to Part 15 - Dock Awning & Rooftop Sign
I wanted a quick, easy way to make stair railings that all come out the same. I thought a bit and came up with a jig.
Build the stair rail jig. glue the .015" music wire into the holes. Then cut the wire.
The finished jig with three wire posts in place.
Slip the .015" music wire into a hole, wrap it around the wire posts in the jig to form the railing.
Glue the stairs in place on the base.
Drill a .015" hole in the dock and in the bottom stair of the staircase. Slip the railing through the bottom hole and glue the railing into the top hole with CA.
Then using some nippers cut the railing even with the bottom of the stairs.
Both railings in place. You can paint them black if you like or leave them metal colored.
You can add door knobs using the micro beads included in the kit. Apply a dot of white glue with a toothpick. Then, lick the end of another toothpick, use it to pick up a bead, and set the bead in place on the glue dot.
Ewwww! But effective. Just don't double dip. Use tweezers if you'd rather.
Once the beads have dried, you can touch them up with some black paint applied on the end of a toothpick or leave them shiny.
Drill holes in the roofs with a .015" bit. Then glue small bits of .015" music wire in place as vents. Paint them black or dark grey.
