Back to Part 13 - Shingles and Tarpaper
Paint the chimney a mortar color.
I use PolyScale Aged Concrete mixed with water. I wanted to cover the mortar lines without clogging them.
Once the mortar color is dry, dry-brush brick red of your choosing onto the chimney.
Cut the stripwood and repeat until you get the pattern that you like.
Once the chimney has dried, use a 3/32" drill bit to drill out an end of the chimney. Then paint the hole black.
You can skip drilling and just paint the end black with good results.
Using CA, glue the brick-colored, .012" X .024" to the chimney.
Fold it over and over gluing it to each side.
Cut the stripwood and repeat until you get the pattern that you like.
Use the chimney to mark the width of the hole you will cut for the chimney.
Use a sharp hobby knife to cut out the hole. Bevel the lower edge so that the chimney will fit nicely.
Cut the chimney to length. Enjoy the rest on another model or add another chimney to this one.
Mix some black and white acrylic paint with some white glue. Apply the glue to the bottom of the chimney and glue the chimney in place. The black glue will act as tar.
